"I took a walk in the woods and came out taller than the trees." Henry David Thoreau

Politics concern everyone and it is about creating the world you want to see. All of us want to imagine that justice is real. We all may want to do something one way it may not work out the way we planned so we just have to find a different way.

The storytelling skills inform everything I do even questioning how do you make sure we get climate action or criminal justice reform.

Every problem can be analyzed using tripartite structure of a fictional protagonist's journey: what a character or citizen want, why they want it and how will they get there. Most important is helping people see themselves as active agents in their own story in their own narrative.

I try to tell a story of where we are and where we can go. I use my storytelling skills when working with opponents when I rely mostly on my listening skills because it is as important to listen to stories of others.

You cannot influence behavior of others if you dismiss the core ideology that people hold and you cannot understand that unless you inhabit their point of view.

We live in challenging times when people are mostly locked into two opposing narratives especially about climate change and human rights but I believe in power of stories told one to one across the divide. It is our obligation with our opponent is to get as close as we can as often as we can. We all doubt that today's chasm can be completely bridged and yet we all hope we can cross it and meet in the middle don't we?
